i want to apologize to all the women i have called beautiful
before i’ve called them intelligent or brave
i am sorry i made it sound as though
something as simple as what you’re born with
is all you have to be proud of
when you have broken mountains with your wit
from now on i will say things like
you are resilient, or you are extraordinary
not because i don’t think you’re beautiful
but because i need you to know
you are more than that By rupi kaur  (via awelltraveledwoman)

Type Tables: East and West

Two more pieces of typographic furniture by Matt Innes. The curvaceous ampersand table [top] was inspired by the shapes of Herb Lubalin (and Tom Carnase). It features legs that mimic surfboard fins that are connected with a precision-fit slot and tab technique. No nails or screws.

The Japanese kanji inspired side tables [bottom] make use of the “load-bearing, structural forms” of the script. They can be read & used horizontally or as a vertical stack. They are slightly adjusted from the traditional forms to create a more stable structure. Made in collaboration with Saori Kajiwara

Higashi (東 – east) and nishi (西 – west) also form the compound word tozai (東西), meaning the wider world
