pappubahry:

The Crab Pulsar versus the surrounding nebula, photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope through the 547nm filter (i.e., green light), 7 August 2000 to 17 April 2001.  (Proposal ID 7407.)
I spent a bit of time trying to clean up the raw Hubble images; you can see what I started with here.  At times my code gets a little over-zealous, often thinking that the stars in the top left are noise.  The professionals’ version, also showing animation from Chandra pictures, can be seen, e.g., here.

Finally found this pic again! First time I saw it I had a story premise come to mind. If you’ve seen #ATLA this will make sense;
Thousands of years in the future of the world that the Avatar governs the balance of the four bendable elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) the Fire Nation has again risen to control the other nations. However the cost of the war isn’t the annihilation of one of the bending elements (as it was in Aang’s time) but the loss of the planet itself. All portals and doorways into the spiritual world are lost, all traditions and ways of life for the entire earth’s history snuffed out in a vain grab at control.

i want to apologize to all the women i have called beautiful
before i’ve called them intelligent or brave
i am sorry i made it sound as though
something as simple as what you’re born with
is all you have to be proud of
when you have broken mountains with your wit
from now on i will say things like
you are resilient, or you are extraordinary
not because i don’t think you’re beautiful
but because i need you to know
you are more than that By rupi kaur  (via awelltraveledwoman)
